Monroe Jr./Sr. High School will be conducting an assessment of our school’s needs. The purpose of this needs assessment is to understand the teen dating violence behaviors that our students engage in. The information collected will be used to develop an intervention to improve the school climate in respect to teen dating violence. Additionally, this information will be used in a research study conducted by Vanessa Watts, a Miami University Graduate Student, on the effectiveness of the teen dating violence intervention. The study consists of a survey that includes approximately 140 questions that is expected to take 20 to 30 minutes to complete. This survey will be administered two times, once at the beginning of the school year and once at the end. The survey will be conducted in your child’s school by Vanessa Watts, a Miami Graduate student and other trained research assistants. This survey will include questions about dating behaviors, attitudes toward dating violence, home environment, mental health, self-esteem, substance use, and school climate.
