Junior High Incentive News

Our first incentive was a blast! On September 21st, Culver’s of Monroe came to the football stadium and served over 400 custard sundaes to students who had received 4 or less signatures on their accountability sheets. We had a great time enjoying the sunshine, music, and ice-cream.  

Our next incentive, for qualifying students, will be a field trip to Wright-Patt Airforce Base Museum on October 23rd. Student’s will be given their permission slips on October 14th...more information to come.The 8th grade student council is working with administrators to plan a winter semi-formal. The dance is scheduled for December 12th from 6:30pm-9:00pm. Tickets will be on sale during advisory Nov. 30-Dec. 11. The price is $10.00 per student until December 10th, when the price will increase to $15.00. No tickets will be sold after 3:00pm on December 11th. The dress code is semi-formal; dresses, khakis/slacks, and ties. This is going to be an awesome event!


We are seeking parent volunteers for both the field trip to the Air Force Museum and the school dance. If you are interested in chaperoning, sending in refreshments, or helping out with either event please contact Lauren Burchfield at lburchfield@monroelocalschools.com.


It seems too early to be thinking about the end of the year awards, but we are already setting high expectations of your students and challenging them with goals of excellence. Here are the awards your children are trying to earn:

  • Principal’s Award is 4.0 GPA (maintained all four quarters)

  • Honor Roll is 3.5-3.99 GPA (3.5 or higher maintained all four quarters)

-If a student does not earn the required GPA for any of the four quarters, they become ineligible to earn the Principal’s award and/or Honor Roll. GPAs are not rounded for these awards.

  • Perfect Attendance through the day of awards (no tardys or absences; excused and unexcused)

  • Awards per department panel per grade

    • Overall exemplary student (attitude/academics) and most improved
