Orginally scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 3, the OHSAA State Cross Country Championships were held on Satuday, November 10 at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio. On Novemrber 1st, the Ohio High School Athletic Association annouced that they were postponing the event for one week due to course conditions as a result of flooding across the course.
So finally, after an extra week of practice, Junior Christian Leach and Sophomore Marty Zumbiel took to the course to represent the Hornets on the state's biggest stage for high school cross country athletes! When it was all said and done, out of 178 participants in the Boys Division II race, Marty Zumbiel finished in 44th Place while Christian Leach finished in 70th Place overall.
For Marty, the finish was an improvement over his first appearance at the state meet last year when he qualified as a Freshman, where he finished in 51st Place. This was the first trip to the state meet for Christian Leach.
Congratulations to both Christian Leach and Marty Zumbiel on an outstanding season!
