Monroe Board Seeks Community Input on Facilities:

Our growing school district is approaching full capacity in our two school buildings.  The Primary building, constructed in 1954, was designed to house 339 students.  We currently teach 470 students there.  Our 2-12 building was opened in 2004 and was designed for 1,883 students.  At this time we have 2,410 students attending the school.  

Our school board has been working with a facilities advisory team comprised of community members, parents and educators, to determine how we should work with our community to accommodate our growing student population.  

Our board was recently informed by a representative of the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission that our school district qualifies for 49% matching funds from the State of Ohio to construct a new school building.  That money would be made available to co-fund the construction if a bond issue was successful in November of 2018.

We would like to invite parents and community members to hear a panel discussion from the Board and the facilities advisory team, and would like to hear how the community feels about our future.  The meeting will be held in the Monroe High School Auditorium at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 16.   Please consider attending this important meeting about the future of Monroe Public Schools.  If you would like to submit your questions ahead of time, please send them to pcagwin@monroelocalschools.com.
